The secondary CR3 is visually deleted, but not actually trashed. When I refresh the secondary CR3 shows up again. I expected it to send both images to the Trash. I can delete the full group when viewing images in Preview. I have also set all settings in Grouping to Yes for all the options [at least for this testing].
