This behavour has changed from 5.2.2 where the Background layer was initially ticked. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open a jpeg file (may also apply to other image files without layers) OBSERVED RESULT The background layer in the layer selector on the right is not ticked EXPECTED RESULT The background layer in the layer selector on the right is should be ticked as it was in 5.2.2 SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows 10 Pro Krita 5.2.3 (release version) ADDITIONAL INFORMATION This appears to be a change since 5.2.2. Not extensively tested because I have reverted to 5.2.2 for now. Not tested on any other operating systems.
