<thetext>SUMMARY

The "Digital Clock" widget has a "Time display" with 3 options: 12 hour, 24 hour, and Use Region Default. Can KDE please add a "Custom" option? Most desktop environments allow setting a fully custom time format, configured with Qt QML time expressions (such as "hh:mm AP" for "12:34 PM" as an example), or percent sign codes like with XFCE and Cinnamon (such as "%I:%M %p" for "12:34 PM" as an example).

Allowing a custom time format would be consistent with KDE already allowing a custom date format. See fixed bug 162368: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=162368

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux: Ubuntu 24.04 arm64
KDE Plasma Version: KDE Plasma 5.27.11
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.115.0
Qt Version: 5.15.13

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Note: I originally sent this in the KDE Matrix room and I was told to open a feature request here.

Note: My custom use case is to allow for placing the date and time in the same row, horizontally. I am using 2 panels, so I have plenty of space, and I prefer my date to be laid out horizontally like it is in macOS (but with the ISO date). Adding a "Custom" option will allow KDE users to set the date and time format to whatever they want, supporting my macOS-like use case and any other use case people may have. KDE already supports custom date formats, so why not custom time formats?

Here is a full list of the custom formatting codes supported by XFCE and Cinnamon, which KDE may want to copy, or use for inspiration: https://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/slackware-14/xfce-clock-custom-formatting-codes-753433/</thetext>
