<thetext>SUMMARY
First of all, I'm not sure if this is the correct package and component to file this issue, please move it elsewhere if the selected product/component is not appropriate.

Under displays I have selected a screen as "Primary display". Despite of that some windows keep getting opened on a secondary display that is switched off.
It would be best if it detected that the screen is switched off and display all windows in the primary display. Alternatively or additionally, there could be an option like "open all windows in primary display" in case that can't be detected or if the user wants all windows to open in the primary display despite of additional displays being connected and switched on.

Some windows keep getting opened in a secondary, switched-off display even though I moved them to the primary display which means if they opened in the secondary display due to remembering their position they should open in the primary display from that point on. These are VeraCrypt windows but it also happens for other programs iirc.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Connect two monitors and select one as primary display
2. Turn off the secondary display
3. Use the computer until a window such as a VeraCrypt window is opened in the secondary display

OBSERVED RESULT
Window opens in switched-off secondary display.

EXPECTED RESULT
Should open in switched-on primary display.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Debian10
KDE Plasma Version: 5.14.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.54.0
Qt Version: 5.11.3

<thetext>Is the left-most display not the primary one? If not, then this is Bug 427875.

Also please note that Plasma 5.14 is quite ancient and I would strongly recommend upgrading. We're on 5.22 right now.</thetext>

<thetext>The left-most display is not the primary one despite of the windows getting opened there (sometimes even after moving the window to the other screen and closing the window).

Yes, I would use a newer version but I'm using what is available for Debian 10 stable. If possible please make Debian get a newer version of KDE up or create an unofficial repo for newer KDE packages for Debian (I guess that would cause a lot of mismatching packages troubles though).</thetext>

    <thetext>Yup, this is Bug 427875.

KDE isn't responsible for Debian packagers' decision to ship two year old software in their "Stable" version. I would recommend that you use Debian Testing if you want a reasonable up-to-date KDE experience.

That said, this bug isn't fixed even in the latest version so it's not like that would help here. :)
