<thetext>What I do expect:
-Moving between the virtual desktops on the grid using the arrows on a keyboard, or closing the view using the same button I toggled it with.

What actually happens:
-I'm no longer able to navigate in the desktop grid view using keyboard.

Actually, I figure I cannot use any button; The same bugs appears to affect the present windows (all desktops) mode. I cannot search windows by typing key words, and quit the mode using ESC nor a button I toggled it on with.</thetext>

<thetext>I hope it isn't a problem to add details concerning the issue as a new comment, since I don't see an option to edit the original message.

Reverting to the actual topic - I noticed that what I said about not working keyboard is not entirely true.

Sure, I still can't navigate in the desktop grid nor search windows by typing key words in the present windows mode, but I noticed that I can use the META key to open Application Launcher in each mode.</thetext>

Hello Christoph,

I'm afraid to say that it is not a duplicate of that bug.

I didn't actually ask to bring the present window filtering function to the desktop grid mode, but I said that I cannot use any button/shorcut (ESC for an instance to exit the mode), and gratuitously mentioned that I can't use keyboard buttons to navigate in the present desktop mode too.

However, shall I open another bug report concerning solely the present desktop mode?</thetext>

<thetext>I'm also having this issue. The arrow keys stopped working for the 'present windows' effect too. I think this problem started after the 5.10.1 update.

The qt packages were also updated, to 5.9. I'm not sure if that could be related.</thetext>

Hey there Jessie!
I ensured whether it is not any planned resolution to remove that function since Christoph marked that as the duplicate of the bug which was marked as a wish. (Mine got too..)
Though the function is happily present in the newest unstable KDE Neon Developer release.

I hope they'll sort that out soon..or it's been already solved in the packages that haven't pulled out of testing repos (in my case, Arch's ones).
If it is not.. Well, one bug entry more will not overwhelm active KDE developers.
Arrivederci!</thetext>

<thetext>I've just started experiencing the same problem here. Specifically:
* I can no longer hide the Desktop Grid via its shortcut
* The arrow and Enter keys no longer have any effect

I'm using plasma-framework v5.34.0, plasma-workspace v5.10.1, and qt5-base v5.9.0 (on Arch Linux). Only plasma-workspace and qt5-base were upgraded yesterday. I wasn't experiencing the problem before then.</thetext>

<thetext>Downgrading plasma-workspace to v5.9.5.1 didn't fix the problem, so I'd say it has something to do with the qt5-base jump (excuse the pun) from v5.8.0 to v5.9.0. I can't be bothered downgrading Qt5; there are too many packages to rebuild.</thetext>

<thetext>I believe you have to downgrade kwin, not plasma workspace</thetext>

<thetext>Downgrading kwin to v5.9.5 didn't fix the problem either. I tried it with both plasma-workspace v5.9.5.1 and v5.10.1. I'm still thinking incompatibility with Qt v5.9.0 is the likely cause.</thetext>

<thetext>I'm changing the importance of the bug back to "normal" as the bug is clearly not a wish against any intended resolution to remove that functionality.
However, I'll leave the status of the bug to the KDE developers.</thetext>

<thetext>Cool, thanks for confirming my suspicion. It looks like something (minor) has changed in Qt v5.9.0 and KWin will need to accommodate.

Let's hope one of the developers can get moving on this soon. I don't want to have to spend time rebuilding/downgrading my 19 Qt5 packages!</thetext>
