Then I happened to plug in a USB Audio device (as there were no audio devices at all before this) and BOOM, kmix crashes. Simple and I bet repeatable. To get good debugging I had to ad packages that the bug reporter did not load: apt-get install libpulse-mainloop-glib0-dbg libpulse0-dbg libpulsedsp-dbg apt-get install libglib2.0-0-dbg Then looking around I see lots of crashes soon AFTER the calls to mdwslider, which seems like a good place to look first.
