There have been some syntax changes to the /etc/conf.d/net file that is documented in the openrc package. Most notably, bash style arrays have been removed and replaced with simple double quotes. I've read on multiple sites that people consider knetworkconf to be broken as its showing nothing. I just found this bug report and checked it against my own systems and indeed - all 3 computers already use baselayout-2 and none of them can configure their nics using knetworkconf.
