<thetext>Version: 1.4.0 (using KDE 3.5.2, Kubuntu Package 4:3.5.2-0ubuntu18 dapper)
Compiler: Target: i486-linux-gnu
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.16-rt26

When playing a file, the "Playing:" area of the status bar displays two lines including non-parsed HTML code.
For example, when playing the demo file it prints:
Playing: _:track by artist[unreadable character (return?)]
<b>amaroK 1.4 welcome</b> by <b>Matthias Ettrich</b> (0:12)

I think the "_:track by artist[?]" should not appear, the html should be parsed, and everything should appear in a single line (2 lines is too much for the height of the bar)

AmaroK comes from the following repository:
deb http://kubuntu.org/packages/amarok-14 dapper main
I might have some (non-amaroK) packages coming from czessi.net since I followed the following advise and then did a full upgrade:
http://amarok.kde.org/amarokwiki/index.php/MP3_on_Kubuntu_6.06
Unfortunately, I don't know how to check what packages on my system come from that repository (which I removed from my sources.list in the meantime), so that I could try and remove them then reinstall the "official" ones from the kubuntu repositories.

Things I tried without success:
- remove ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok and ~/.kde/share/config/amarokrc then restart amaroK
- idem + apt-get remove amarok && dpkg --purge amarok then reinstall

versions of some installed software:

<thetext>Looks like a translation problem (though it seems to be in English, maybe the translation, besides being broken, is also incomplete?). Which language did you set KDE to?</thetext>

    <thetext>I have that problem, too.
My environment is quite similar.
Kubuntu Dapper, KDE 3.5.2, Amarok (both 1.4.0 and 1.4.1)</thetext>

<thetext>I had a similar problem...but found that it was fixed after I set my Country Region/Language options (mine was Australia) under Regional & Accessibility in System Seetings. After a restart everything seemed back to normal.

Seems like it could be a Kubuntu problem rather than an Amarok/KDE problem?</thetext>

<thetext>I had the same problem and indeed it was fixed by setting the "Country or Region". I can also confirm it appears to be (K)ubuntu specific, as I had never experienced this problem when using SUSE.</thetext>
