Version: 1.0-beta8 (using KDE 3.3.2, Mandrake Linux Cooker i586 - Cooker) Compiler: gcc version 3.4.3 (Mandrakelinux 10.2 3.4.3-3mdk) OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.3-7mdk-i686-up-4GB The default shortcut key for deleting a feed (Alt + Del) is way too complicated for the simple job of deleting a feed. I would think that a simple "delete" would do the job - its not like I am going to lose any data: at the worst I'd need to find the feed source again and add it. Even if this operation is deemed dangerous enough to require a two-key combination, a SHIFT+Del would probably do the job just as well and be more coherent and consistent with the rest of the KDE-PIM suite which uses this key combo for deleting items.
Simple "delete" is used for deleting articles - of course you can argue which action is used more often. The reason I chose Alt+Delete is because all feed list actions work with Alt: Alt+Cursors is moving in the feed list, Alt+Plus/Minus switching between unread feeds etc (in current CVS/not yet released beta9). So the key bindings are consistent. Looking into KMail, Shift+Delete deletes the message, not the folder, simple Delete moves it to trash, and Alt+Delete is not used. As there is no shortcut for deleting folders, I won't say akregator's behavior is not consistent.
According to Frank this is invalid.
I still think that the keyboard shortcut (also those used for navigating feeds) should be consistant across KDE - for example, KMail uses CTRL+SHIFT+LEFT/RIGHT to navigate folders so one who uses akregator for the first time would expect that to work the same.
