Version:           0.7.1 (using KDE KDE 3.3.2)
Installed from:    Gentoo Packages
Compiler:          gcc-3.3.4 
OS:                Linux

steps to reproduce:
1. open the camera gui (camera -> canon ...)
2. right click an image -> EXIF information
3. I only get empty information windows

- using libgphoto2 2.1.5
- with canon ixus 40 via usb ptp

Is you libgphoto2 compiled with libexif support. If yes, are you able to access the exif information using commandline gphoto2 or gtkam

yes, it's compiled with exif support, but it just doesn't work in camera gui (prewiew).
Because there is this option in the menu I expect it to work.

If not, please delete this menu entry. Therefore I filed this bug.

are you able to access the exif information using gtkam and/or commandline gphoto2   (for eg, using  
gphoto2 --show-exif 1 --camera "Canon Digital IXUS 40 (PTP mode)" )

OK, neither gphoto gets me info, so its not digikams fault.

either its the ixus or gphotos fault.
