Compiler:          gcc version 3.3.4 20040623 (Gentoo Linux 3.3.4-r1, ssp-3.3.2-2, pie-8.7.6)
OS:                Linux (i686) release 2.6.10-rc2

Konqueror can display small buttons in the tabs that can be used to close the tab, and this feature is used by more programs. I think it would be very handy to have this available, instead of just the option of right clicking on the tab and then left clicking on close.

This feature has been added after 1.0-beta8.

Update to the new version, then go "Settings" -> "Configure Akregator"
Choose "Browser", then activate "Show tab close button on hover"
