Version: 3.3.91 (using KDE KDE 3.3.90) Installed from: SuSE RPMs When I view a document's source code, KWrite shows it in the system default charset. So if the page is for example encoded in UTF-8 and the system's default charset is ISO-8859-1, some special characters aren't displayed correctly, for example «ü» as «Ã¼», in the source code.
There currently is no way for konqueror to tell kwrite what charset to use on opening a file, or is there? This is a Konqueror "bug", since kwrite can open a remote webpage with the correct charset. This is happening because View Source opens the local cache file, where the Content-Type information has been lost. What's more, Konqueror parses HTML tags and headers to find the charset, which KWrite can't and won't do.
Bug still present in kde 4 svn trunk r793287 To test, visit the following website: http://www.unicode.org/fr/ and open the document source code.
Is this report still relevant for Konqueror 4.8.4 or later? If yes, please update the version field, otherwise close this bug. Thank you.
