Description Stephan Binner 2005-01-04 20:36:00 UTC
Version: (using KDE Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources

Load http://freemail.web.de and watch the page security information:

 - The icons show a *fully* closed lock.
 - The status bar icon tooltip reads "Session is not secured."
 - KDE SSL says "Some of this document is secured with SSL, but the
   main part is not."

Kind of tri-state? :-)

Actually, the padlock icon is closed, but it's half greyed out.

The icon should show more clearly.

Hrm we had this issue before, and I complained about the graphics. This is
purely an icon issue then?

Ah, it's really hard to see (and I don't blame my display for it :). Now pondering about blinking (disappearing) icon in the location bar...

The tooltip could be better, reflecting all three states.

Btw, Firefox doesn't indicate such pages as [a bit] secure at all.

We have a mechanism to determine such things though - the context menu.
Users of course should still be aware that there are issues, which is why it
doesn't get the full security approval.

I got the same on http://www.oeamtc.at/ too, and IMO this is a major security risk which should be closed, the page should have an open lock, possibly with an alerting color.
