Version: (using KDE KDE 3.2.2) Installed from: Unlisted Binary Package mkdir temp mkdir temp2 create test file in temp2 cd temp ln -s /home/user/temp2 m or any other folder. Browse to it using _sidebar_. Try to rename file in temp2 folder. It does not refresh automatically. Also, right click on "/" . Select properties. It cannot be renamed.
This bugreport is somewhat confusing. "Browse to it" If you browse to temp, you will notice that the expansion icon does not appear for temp (because of the link inside) until you click on temp (in the sidebar). "Try to rename file in temp2 folder" - According to the steps given there _are_ no files in the temp2 folder, so this is also a bit confusing. But try creating a blank text document in temp2, then click on m in the sidebar... until you refresh, there isn't anything shown. Then rename the file (again from temp2), and you'll note that clicking on m is not sufficient to show you the new status of that directory. Essentially, this report is that filesystem changes are not propagating properly through symlinks. Regarding slash... the "Rename" context menu item allows you to rename the root in the sidebar.
Joe is noticing it and I looked across the room at his system...definitely exhibiting this behaviour. I have 2 machines in front of me (gentoo kde 3.5.2 and kubuntu kde 3.5.4) and it works on both of them. Not sure what the difference is offhand.
It works for me in 4.1.60 svn trunk 838250.
All reports about file management mode reported against KDE 3 (konqueror) has been closed: konqueror in KDE 3 is no more developed and mantained. All bugs and wishes which could be interesting for Dolphin in KDE 4 (the new KDE file manager) has been collected into a specific list. Please try the new file manager before request new features and report bugs. Before submitting new reports check carefully the already opened KDE/Dolphin reports in order not to add duplicates. Many thanks. P.S: I'm not able to reproduce this bug anyway.
