Description Artemio 2004-12-10 11:01:29 UTC
Version: 3.3.1 (using KDE KDE 3.3.1)
Installed from: Mandrake RPMs
Compiler: gcc 3.4
OS: Linux

If I download any file, a tar.bz2 archive or a .jpg image, and then the connection to the server gets broken or I have to cancel the download because I need to phone someone (I am on dialup), konqueror as it always did leaves the file partially downloaded, named filename.part. However, shall the download be restarted, it deletes this .part file and starts the download again. This is pretty frustrating :-(, considering that it has never ever happenned with konqueror (I am a kde user since 2.2.1...).

It appears that this bug only happens when I use the "save link as" on the right click. I tested with dragging and dropping a file (HTTP, FTP) and copying a link and pasting to a local folder (HTTP, FTP) and in these four situations a partial download is resumed. But as I said, when I use "save link as", konqueror deletes the .part file and starts over again.

Confirmed on 3.5a1.

kio_file: Deleting partial file /home/teve/linux-2.6.12.4.tar.bz2.part

This bug is still present in 4.1.

In KDE 4.7 and higher, this works correctly so long as you use the webkitpart browsing engine. You can test this for yourself by attempting starting to download and canceling it and restarting the download again to the same destination:

Tossing this bug over to the khtml module.
