Description fleona 2004-12-09 18:55:29 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.3.2)
Installed from: Unlisted Binary Package
Compiler: gcc 3.4.3
OS: Linux

Yes, i know gmail support is experimental, and probable kde 3.4 will fix this.

With kde 3.3.2, i find that i can login to gmail just fine, but when i click any message to open it, it loads fine but instantly the page gets blank like what you would see if you typed about:blank, so gmail is still unusable for me

I am using arch linux's packages btw.
Glibc 2.3.4 (developers said glibc wont make new releases, last official version is 2.3.3)
Comment 2 David Jander 2004-12-26 15:16:28 UTC
I can confirm this. (KDE-3.3.2 level "a" unofficial SuSE packages)
Although konqueror doesn't seem to be officially supported yet, you can login, but clicking on a conversation makes that conversation appear for a fraction of a second, then the screen gets blanked as in "about:blank".
This might be more a question for gmail, but... why is Safari officially supported and konqueror isn't? Aren't they supposed to be based on the same code (i.e. hktml), with fixes and additions ported back and foth between safari and konqueror?
Anyone knows a valid UA string from a safari browser so I can try that one on gmail/konqueror?

confirmed, same bug on FreeBSD 5.3, kde 3.3.2 built from ports collection

I get the following error message:

Oops...the system was unable to perform your operation. Please try again in a few seconds.

I am running 3.3.93 (beta2) Level "a" SUSE 9.2 UNSUPPORTED

I have tried *all* the user-agent options. With Netscape 4.76 on Windows 95, the mailbox is listed but none of the hyperlinks work from that page (except logout!)
Comment 6 Allan Sandfeld 2005-02-22 16:08:04 UTC
I doesn't do that here KDE3.4-rc1
Comment 7 Aaron Voisine 2005-02-22 18:43:20 UTC
Problem seems to have gone away for me without changing my installtion (3.3.2 built from ports collection on freebsd 5.3) Something must have changed on gmail.

Something changed, because in 3.2.2 I can't click on the links anymore ...?!

Comment 9 David Jander 2005-02-23 15:33:53 UTC
It sure changed, but it still doesn't work (SuSE rpm's KDE 3.4-beta2).
Now I don't see anything but "loading...". There it stays.
Safari is a supported browser (which is based on khtml), so why doesn't Konqueror work???
Comment 10 Allan Sandfeld 2005-02-23 15:36:44 UTC
Upgrade to RC1 when it is released. Btw, Safari also has problems with GMail, and after RC1 more problems than Konqueror does.
Comment 11 Stephen Leaf 2005-12-29 09:14:36 UTC
3.5.0 gmail is 100% usable for me.
Comment 12 Simon Roby 2006-01-04 02:38:21 UTC
#11, are you really saying Standard mode works correctly, and not just HTML mode?
Comment 13 Anton 2006-11-18 01:30:42 UTC
konqueror 3.5.5 works fine with all features except google talk.
You just have to change browser identification to firefox.
What this bug is about?..
Comment 14 FiNeX 2008-03-07 15:36:13 UTC
Right now (march 2008) Konqueror 3.5.8 cannot use the chat functionality from the gmail website. Even Konqueror 4.0.2 doesn't load the web chat.
Comment 15 Jure Repinc 2008-04-06 18:10:17 UTC
I'm using Konqueror 4 (trunk 794088) and messages do load in both basic HTML mode (default, as Konqueror) and in standard mode (has to present as Firefox).
Comment 16 George Goldberg 2008-05-06 05:27:08 UTC
Svn trunk r803492 is able to read conversations in full-mode (identifying as firefox 2), so although there are other issues with GMail, this bug in particular is fixed.
