It should be possible, at least optionally, to show the total count of entries 
in a feed too.

Why do you care about the total count? :-) About unread count, you want list view columns instead of numbers in brackets behind the folder?

   For the most part, so I know to clean up the folder.

   Yes, once the total count is also implemented.

Total count is now present in akregator's feed list. Closing.
