Description Anthony G 2004-12-01 04:15:28 UTC
Version: 3.3.1-4.1 Red Hat (3.3.1) (using KDE KDE 3.3.1)
Installed from: RedHat RPMs
Compiler: GCC 3.4.2 The version of Konqueror I am using was precompiled for the Fedora Core 3 distribution. I did not compile it myself.
OS: Linux

How to reproduce the bug:

1) Open Konqueror in file management mode. To accomplish this, either type: "konqueror --profile filemanagement" in a terminal, or click the K Menu and select "Home"

2) Create a new folder named "Folder"

3) Click the "Tools" menu and select "Find File"

4) Double-click the folder "Folder" in the bottom pane, you should navigate to the folder and the "Find File" dialog will disappear.

5) Once again, select "Find File" from the "Tools" menu.

6) Click the "Back" button on the Konqueror toolbar. You should now see two "Find File" dialogs on top of each other. Navigating backwards and forwards using the toolbar buttons will now create more.

Everything is at the default for Fedora Core 3's Personal Desktop configuration. The only loaded plugin is for Helix Player.

My mistake, I had done some alterations to the filemanagement profile. You must

1) Close the navication panel.

2) Navigate to the user's home folder, /home/user for example.

3) Next, save the profile "File Management", with "Save URL" checked.

4) Instead of starting konqueror with that commandline, you must actually start konqueror using the commandline:

kfmclient openProfile filemanagement

Instead of the "konqueror" commandline depicted in step #1. Follow the other steps as-is.

Weird Bug. Confirmed on Konqi 3.5.4 (SuSE). Reproducible by following instructions in original bug report (excepting the konqueror --profile filemanagement bit, which should use kfmclient instead). Also, step four is a single click (silly red hat).

Anyway, a new find part get place below the previous one, so the Konqi window grows taller vertically with each click of the back/forward toolbar buttons.

All reports about file management mode reported against KDE 3 (konqueror) has been closed: konqueror in KDE 3 is no more developed and mantained. All bugs and wishes which could be interesting for Dolphin in KDE 4 (the new KDE file manager) has been collected into a specific list.

Please try the new file manager before request new features and report bugs.

Before submitting new reports check carefully the already opened KDE/Dolphin reports in order not to add duplicates.

Many thanks.

P.S "find" behaviour has been changed in KDE 4. This bug is no more reproducible.
