Version: 3.3.1 (using KDE 3.3.1, SuSE) Compiler: gcc version 3.3.4 (pre 3.3.5 20040809) OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.8-24.3-default This is similar #83157 but from SuSE9.2 Goto http://hubblesource.stsci.edu/sources/video/clips/ (which Google returned for a search for "mpeg video clips"). Left click on MPEG1 for "Centaur Object" and click "Open with Kaffeine" in the popup. Kaffeine opens in a new windows but does not play the video. Rather it presents 2 popups - one saying "No plugin found to handle this resource" and the other saying "The specified file or url was not found. Please check it.". This is the problem also described in http://lists.suse.com/archive/suse-multimedia-e/2004-Apr/0018.html If "kaffeine" is changed to "kaffeine --nofork" as it suggests then the video does play. Also, if instead the video is first added to the Kaffeine playlist using "Actions"->"Append to Kaffeine Playlist" from the right button popup and then selected for playing in Kaffeine as stand-alone player (without the --nofork option) selecting it from Kaffeines playlist then the video also plays without problems. Also, if instead the link is clicked using the middle button then the video also plays without problems - now embedded in a new Konqueror window. It's when the video link is left clicked that there is problem. Another issue - the "Open With" menu I get when right clicking on the video link has "Quanta Plus","Firefox Web Browser","KImageMapEditor" and "Other...". I find it strange that it does not instead contain items such as "Kaffeine","Xine","KMPlayer","MPlayer" - now that Konqueror does know to launch Kaffeine when the link is clicked.
your video problem is either a kaffeine problem or a suse problem. Neither is reported here. Your Open With menu problem can't be fixed for web browsing as the mimetype simply isn't known - a hyperlink can point to anything
