Description Tom Emerson 2004-11-26 22:55:43 UTC
Version: 0.10 (using KDE KDE 3.3.1)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
OS: Linux

OS is SuSE 9.1 on an AMD64 system
Boson fails to start (KDE crash dialog w/no backtrace)

(no debugging symbols found)...Using host libthread_db library "/lib64/tls/libthread_db.so.1".

Notable items from bo-info:

a couple of libraries are mentioned as "missing, but should exist"; locate on these reveals:

tom@BeastBoy:~> locate libglx
/usr/X11R6/lib64/modules/extensions/libglx.so
/usr/X11R6/lib64/modules/extensions/libglx.so.1.0.6629
tom@BeastBoy:~> locate nvidia_drv
/usr/X11R6/lib64/modules/drivers/nvidia_drv.o
tom@BeastBoy:~>

so the libraries exist, but in 64-bit form, not 32.

[note: everything installed via packages]

Hi
do you get any console output?
Can you try with a CVS (source-)version?

The libraries reported by boinfo are not relevant for starting boson, they are relevant for 3d acceleration only.

Note that the SuSE packages are 100% unsupported by us. They did not even notify us that they provide packages for boson (and I don't know whether they apply any patches).

No reply within three months - I cannot do anything about this. Closing.
