Description Thorsten Schnebeck 2004-10-15 11:23:57 UTC
Version: (using KDE Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources
OS: Linux

Not only using a DSLR with a photo ratio of 3:2 I'm also using a digicam with a ratio of 4:3. If I send these 4:3 photos to an online printing service the standard ratio for real pictures is 15x10cm, 30x20cm - 3:2 ratio and parts of the jpg are cropped.

So it would be nice to have an imageplugin where you can select your result ratio and having an according mask, which you can resize (of course with connstant ratio) drag around. Finally you cut your image with a click.

Added to DigikamImagePlugins TODO list (later 0.7.0 final).

This would be a GREAT plug-in. Currently I use a combo of digiKam and Gimp to prep photos before printing them. Digikam for redeye reduction and gimp for cropping. With this plugin I could prep 90% of the potos I print in digiKam and only use Gimp for the 10% of the time I do more advanced stuff.

Ratio Crop tool for image editor available in current digikam CVS module (not digikamimageplugins)

This tool working but is certainly uncomplete and can be improved...

Tool is nice but need one small addition: Please check that the crop frame can not leave the preview window. Otherwise you do not have the selected ratio.

The GUI for the user ratio is suboptimal especially in the German translation.
What about having a editable combo box?

The 4 sliders make the GUI look a little bit "crowded".

I like the slider bars, but besides being able to go outside the preview window, using the sliders, there is also a bug when the aspect ratio is set to None. If you move the Width slider back and forth, the Height slider slowly moves to the left until it reaches the minimum setting.

Another point:
The landscape/portrait-preset should follow the ratio of the original image

Right. I can reproduce this problem. I will fix it.

Width/Height sliders controls fixed in cvs. Please try again.

For 'landscape/portrait-preset' point, please open a new wish file..

Thanks in advance.
