Description jsvrp.gw 2004-08-01 15:17:59 UTC
Version: beta5 (using KDE KDE 3.2.92)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages

First let's make one thing clear. aKregator should become a weblogging tool, there are other applications who can do this.

What I mean is to have the option in the context menu to add a article URL to your personal weblog (e.g. blogger). It will than open your browser with the selected url in the edit-field of your favorite weblog-tool.

You can make it yourself with the help of Konquerors servicemenus, but aKregator does not have a context menu in the article viewer. I think that's a good choice, but on the other hand it limits the user to add custom commands.

An idea would be to have a options-tab where you can add personal options, but this is something for later. Now you can have an option tab where you can choose your weblog or add a custom command to access a less popular-weblogsystem.

Cheers,

Jeroen

Note: "aKregator should become a weblogging tool, there are other applications who can do this." should read:

"aKregator should NOT become a weblogging tool, there are other applications who can do this."

I see how can this probably be accomplished with DCOP, with little changes to aKregator side, so I close it for now.
Comment 3 jsvrp.gw 2004-08-02 14:27:06 UTC
I don't see how this can be done with DCOP. Because dcop cannot add context-menu-entries in aKregator. So I will reopen this wish-item.

Reopened as specified in previous comment.

Theres only one akregator and lots of weblog tools. It will be an overkill to add support for all them to akr, so instead I propose to reverse the direction and add akregator support to blogger tools. This means DCOP, shared libraries, KParts, whatever you may suggest. Lets keep akr clean of blogger bloat.

yeah, I agree. I don't think we should clutter akregator itself with webblogging tools. On the other hand, I wouldn't object if there integration between akregator and a blogging app, or if a blogging app that used akregator's infastructure. I'm planning on developping the latter.
Comment 7 jsvrp.gw 2004-08-27 17:59:53 UTC
Maybe it's a good idea to allow akregator to use the same minitools as in Konqueror. This will allow, at least Blogger to my knowledge, users to send a url to their weblog.

Cheers,

Jeroen

Actually there is a new project, called "kblogger". Maybe it should be used from akgregator (and other kdeapps) for creating new post.
Akgregator and kblogger devs could think about this.

I give up on this one. After five years nothing is done with it. It is just a simple request to add an option to share articles to social media sites or weblogs. Every other rss application has this nowadays.

You can close this bug item!

reopening. I think this is a good wish.
Not that I'm volunteering, but just because we don't have time to implement doesn't mean it isn't a valid wish.
Comment 11 jsvrp.gw 2013-01-16 19:35:10 UTC
Alright, whatever you wish. ;) Although this wish item should now be read as: "Please add sharing options for social network sites and blogs?"
