Description Julian Coccia 2004-07-11 22:12:01 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.2.3)
Installed from: Debian stable Packages

When creating a new Theme.rc for Ksplash using the Redmond theme engine, I noticed that the following options have no effect:

Welcome Text Position
Username Text Position
Action Text Position
Icon Position

All other options seem to work just fine, but without the ability to change the location of any object, the Redmond theme functionality is very limited :(

Cheers,
Julian

May be you just wrong write options. If your screen width (in many display configuration first display width) is 1024 you must use options `Welcome Text Position 1024`,`Action Text Position 1024`, etc. for screen width 1024. This is done for different positions of different screen sizes.

Example of working config:

Welcome Text Position 1024=250,450
Action Text Position 1024= 290,290
Username Text Position 1024=475,312
Icon Position 1024= 395,250

Igor, thanks for the hint. If that is the case it would be great to add it to the documentation: http://docs.kde.org/en/3.2/kdebase/ksplashml/theme-engines.html#redmond-themes

However, I tried what you suggested and also all kinds of other combinations and I am still unable to get it to work. Nothing seems to affect the location of these objects. Does it work in your case ? If so, can you paste your Theme.rc here ?

Thanks a lot,
Julian

More info on this:

I am having this problem with KDE 3.2.3 from the Debian repository. However, on a fresh Knoppix 3.4 installation (KDE 3.2.2) it works just fine.

I am using Debian Sarge, and I can not get it to work either. Maybe it is a Debian problem ??

Won't be in KDE4, unlikely to get fixed for KDE3.
