Description Sridhar Dhanapalan 2004-05-11 12:38:30 UTC
Version: 3.2.2 (using KDE 3.2.2, Gentoo)
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.2 20031218 (Gentoo Linux 3.3.2-r5, propolice-3.3-7)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.5-gentoo

To reproduce:
Right-click a file in Konqueror and select 'Rename', or select it and press the assigned key binding (default: F2). It does not seem to matter what view (icon, tree, etc.) is activated.

Expected result:
The whole filename is selected, ready for inline editing. The text cursor is positioned at the end of the filename.

Actual result:
The whole filename is selected, ready for inline editing. The text cursor is positioned at the _beginning_ of the filename.

This behaviour is inconsistent with other applications, and AFAIR only exists in KDE 3.2.2. Earlier KDE versions did not have this problem.

BRANCH between 3.2.0 and 3.2.1 has it too
Comment 2 Sridhar Dhanapalan 2004-09-05 08:18:18 UTC
KDE 3.3.0 has this bug as well.
Comment 3 disclosed 2004-12-10 20:51:29 UTC
confirming for: 3.3.1 and 3.3.2
Comment 4 Tommi Tervo 2005-10-03 13:52:39 UTC
This is fixed, update to 3.4.x
Comment 5 Sridhar Dhanapalan 2005-10-03 16:32:36 UTC
I am using KDE 3.4.2. The bug appears to only partially fixed, resulting in even more inconsistent behaviour.

On files/directories that do not have extensions, the cursor is placed at the beginning. For files/directories that do have extensions, the cursor is placed just before the final full stop.
Comment 6 Tommi Tervo 2005-10-03 16:43:05 UTC
Well, you are right. I'll reopen this.
Comment 7 A. Spehr 2008-05-05 04:15:37 UTC
I'm using 4.0 branch r802754.

In both konq and dolphin:
how.to.do.docs
   ^ goes to there
test.jpg
    ^ goes to there
Otherwise goes to the back.

So I suspect this can be closed.
Comment 8 A. Spehr 2008-05-05 18:37:44 UTC
Apparently there was no secret reason this was left open, so closing.
