Version: 3.2.0 (using KDE 3.2.0, compiled sources) Compiler: gcc version 3.3.1 (Mandrake Linux 9.2 3.3.1-2mdk) OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.3 In KDE 3.1.5, I could click on non-selectable items (a file's modified time, etc.) in the detailed text mode, and the file would get unselected (unhighlighted)...Now, in 3.2.0, I can't do that...because click there selects the file that I click near...I want to be able to DEselect files by clicking on a non-selectable area...Does that make sense?
You can always deselect by doing CTRL + click. Anyways, I do not know why the behavior was changed...

Works like the original if you click in a space with no files, in a directory listing with not enough files to list down to the bottom of the window. This is really unfortunate, because I would often want to deselect files and not be able to without resorting to the keyboard.
in kde4.1 you can deselect files with the overlay icon, so i will close this
