Description S 2004-02-03 22:43:47 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.2.0)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
Compiler: gcc 3.3.1
OS: Linux

I simply cant use autologin. Other people apperantly can, so maybe its related to my distro SuSE 9.0. When I ask the system to use autologin on my user I get a "authentication failed" (something like that) when login should happen. I am ABSOLUTELY SURE that my password is correct.

where exactly do you enter a password when you are logged in automatically?

looks like a dupe of #68331 otherwise.
Comment 2 S 2004-02-03 23:28:04 UTC
good point, i dont. Thought I did under the kontrol panel. But still it doesent work.

Might be a dublicate of #68331, just seems like they think/figured out its gentoo related and mines not.
Comment 3 S 2004-02-03 23:32:06 UTC
futhermore #68331 is marked as resolved in version 3.1.93, and im running 3.2, but still problem remains.
Comment 4 Oswald Buddenhagen 2004-02-03 23:39:54 UTC
a) they == me
b) who says the same problem cannot be present in the suse packages?
c) it's resolved as invalid. no matter how many distributors make this mistake, it is still not my fault.

now please verify whether this is in fact the same problem by following the comments in the other report.
Comment 5 Sebastian Eichner 2004-02-04 08:06:45 UTC
Same problem here. I also use SuSE 9.0. KDE 3.2 is running fine otherwise, well, i'd say -marvellous-. ;-)
Auto-login was disabled automatically by the 3.2-Upgrade, and does not work after enabling it again.
Comment 6 Oswald Buddenhagen 2004-02-04 16:33:34 UTC
ok, i've got confirmation from the suse-package-maintainer, that he didn't update the packaging properly, yet.

I UPDATED TO 3.2 FROM A MIRROR IN THE US VERSION 3.1.95 AND 3.2 FOR SUSE 9.0 AND I AM HAVING THIS EXACT PROBLEM.
Comment 8 S 2004-02-06 21:25:09 UTC
Take a look at #68331. There is a workaround for it.
Comment 9 Arnold Bousley 2004-02-10 04:19:46 UTC
Under 68331 comment #18 is the workaround that fixed this on SUSE 9.0 with KDE 3.2. I appreciate the help of all you in solving it for me. Thanks.
