Description Rinse De Vries 2004-02-01 00:47:01 UTC
Version: 1.0 (using KDE 3.2.0 RC1, SuSE)
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.1 (SuSE Linux)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.21-166-athlon

Hi string # 16 in kstars_blackbody.po contains an error:

This wavelengths falls in the green region of the visible light
spectrum, but the sun's continuum radiates photons both longer and
shorter than lambda(max) and the human eyes perceives the sun's
color as yellow/white.

-> Green region should be Yellow/Green region. It makes a hughe difference, there should be yellow in the color since our eyes are more sensitive for yellow as a (not complete) adjustement to the color of the strongest sunlight.

lambda_max for the sun is about 5012 Angstroms. This is Blue-Green, not
Yellow-Green. See the following:

"Human daylight vision is most effective in the blue-green (around 550 nm)
where the sun's energy spectrum is in the region of its maximum.":
http://acept.la.asu.edu/PiN/rdg/color/source.shtml

"The sun emits most of its light in the visible part of the spectrum, peaking
in the blue-green, just the the right wavelengths for photosynthesis by green
plants.":

See my previous comments for the argument against this change. The bug reporter now agrees, so I'm marking this invalid.
