Version: 3.1.4 (using KDE 3.1.4) Installed from: Gentoo Compiler: gcc version 3.3.2 20031022 (Gentoo Linux 3.3.2-r2, propolice) OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.23_pre8-gss I classify this as a bug not a wishlist because of inconsistant GUI design. Actually it is an annoyance (new category?) I quote from a complete newbie, "Where's the yellow [more gold color] bar?" I have custom profile view accessed with desktop shortcuts. I taught them how to use the keyboard to select a file but... When first displaying a konqueror profile view or left clicking an "empty" region of a file listing the first entry is surrounded by a dotted box. It has been "selected" indirectly and works (e.g., hitting enter) as if it was directly selected therefore it should be a highlighted box. The functionality is the same. The only difference I have seen are grayed out commands in the edit menu when a file is indirectly selected. The arguement that the user has to explictly choose the file (i.e., clicking it) are invalid and an unnecessary step. The mere action of going to the edit menu itself is an explict action. Highlighted box = active item. Newbies can teach quite a bit of common sense GUI design.
confirming. I think either you make it so the file is highlighted/selected, or change it so that no files are hilighted/selected.
Created attachment 24632 [details] python script which does the same as the buggy site did
sorry, that attachmend doesn't belong to this bug. its for bug 71751
