Description Dik Takken 2003-12-14 23:43:57 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.1.94)
Installed from: Compiled From Sources
OS: Linux

How to reproduce:

* Download a flash file and store it on your local disk.
* Open Konqueror, click on the file, it will start playing.

You will notice that none of the back, forward, and up buttons are enabled, the only thing you can do is close the window.

  Cannot reproduce this here.

Bug has not been seen in recent KDE versions. Closing.

Its Back!

Local playing of Flash now works perfectly, but all the "Go" options are either disabled or don't do anything. So, all you can do is close the Konqueror instance to escape.

Which version are you running James?
I can open a local flash file on my system, and then hit the back key again.
I'm running 3.5.4.

Yes, I have 3.5.4 installed.

I have noticed that this also occurs with Flash web sites.

And on the web sites it only happens on some of them, so it is possible that when playing a Flash file locally that the problem is dependent on the file.
Comment 6 Dik Takken 2006-08-12 13:07:53 UTC
It works fine with me now, using KDE 3.5.3.

As I said, this is an intermittent problem. Well not exactly.

I have experimented with this and I find the following:

I have my Flash files in a folder: "$HOME/Files/Video" and I have a URL link icon on my DeskTop that opens this folder. I also have a URL link icon that opens: "$HOME/Files". If I use the DeskTop URL icon to open the "Video" folder and click on a flash file (opening it in the NSPlugin viewer) all three buttons: "Up", "Back", & "Forward" are grayed out. However, if I open the "Files" folder and then click on "Video" in the file manager window and then click the Flash file, the: "Back" button isn't grayed out but the: "Up" button is still grayed out. Now, with the Flash running, if I click: "Duplicate Current Tab" (which I have on a toolbar), the: "Up" button is no longer grayed out in either tab -- BOTH tabs have: "Up" & "Back" working and: "Forward" still grayed out as it should be. Something is slightly strange here.

Hmm... could we get a sample file? I did a quick search and didn't come up with anything that didn't work properly. If possible... a link to a site with such a file would work best. If you have created a file and it's over a few megs, email it to me and I can host it somewhere.

doing a quick gg search provided the following test example:

http://www.chumfm.com/MorningShow/bits/march24.swf

i have no idea what the clip actually shows. however, locally opening it grays out the "up" button, "back" is still usable.

--> confirm.

Message from the Bugsquad and Konqueror teams: This bug is closed as outdated, as we do not have the manpower to maintain the KDE3 version anymore. If you still can reproduce this issue with Konqueror 4.8.4 or later, please open a new report. Thank you for your understanding.
Comment 12 James Richard Tyrer 2012-06-19 18:10:31 UTC
This appears to be partially fixed in 4.8.4.

Since this is not my bug report, I will open a new one for the remaining problem.
