Version: (using KDE KDE 3.1.94) Installed from: SuSE RPMs OS: Linux An option to set the alarm window undecorated would quiet nice.
This is already possible in the CVS (and soon-to-be KDE 3.2) version. In the Preferences dialogue, select "Modal message windows" in the View tab. If you think (after reading the WhatsThis help text for the control) that the wording of this option should be different to make it more obvious what it does, please tell me your suggestion.
I think to rename it e.g. to "Undecorated alarm window" would be good. In my opinion "modal" just says something to programmers. That's because "undecorated" is more comon, I think. Because of KAlarm I'd call a "message window" an "alarm window". I'm pleased to be able to help you.
The other important thing about modal windows is that they don't grab keyboard input. I'll try to think of a wording which also indicates that. Thanks for your suggestion. It's too late to change this for KDE 3.2, unfortunately.
That's a pity!
The wording has now been changed to "Message windows have title bar and take keyboard focus". This is implemented in CVS, but because of the freeze on new user strings, it will not appear until the next release of kdepim, 3.3, due in a few months' time.
That's a pitty... Well done, but how about replaceing 'take' with 'accept'? I think this would hit the mark a little bir more. It's just a suggestion, I'm a non-natural english speaker I'm Austrian), so my suggestions have not to be taken too serious.
As a native English speaker, I don't think that 'accept keyboard focus' makes sense. 'Accept keyboard input' would be correct, but I don't think that that is quite so precise. I hope that when it is translated into German that it will be right for you.
Ok. If you agree with me, we can close this now.
