Description Dan 2003-11-17 18:28:54 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.1.4)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages
Compiler: 3.3.2 20031022 (Gentoo Linux 3.3.2-r2, propolice)
OS: Linux

Open Control Center -> KDE Components -> File Associations.

Choose application -> msword. For one reason or another (OpenOffice install), this file is assigned to OpenOffice Math. Change to OpenOffice Writer; delete the OpenOffice Math entry.

Click 'Apply,' close Control Center.

Double-click on a Word doc and K spawns OpenOffice Math. Right-click on a Word document -> Open With shows "OpenOffice Math" as only choice.

Re-open Control Panel's File Associations app. Changes to msword type are GONE. Tried this with other apps (PDF, etc.), and everything works fine.

OpenOffice files seem to get installed as read-only so they can't be changed.

I have added a message that informs the user when that happens.
