Version: 3.2 alpha1 (using KDE 3.1.93 (CVS >= 20031028), compiled sources) Compiler: gcc version 3.3 20030226 (prerelease) (SuSE Linux) OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.20-4GB I don't know if this relates to #59580 which seems to be a more specific problem. Every time I click on the Calendar or ToDo button in the Kontact sidebar the window is resized vertically to a height bigger than the current screenheight, so that the bottom of the window is cut off. It is not possible to change the vertical window size again. I've noticed this bug quite some time ago, but thought it was due to an error in some kde configuration file. Recently I started with a completely new KDE CVS installation and the problem is still there.
This only happens with the button bar side pane which is now disabled.
Created attachment 3277 [details] Screenshot showing #66980 with calendar plugin
Using kdelibs, kdebase and kdepim CVS from today this bug still remains. Look at the attachment for a screenshot. The window is being vertically resized to a height bigger than the screen height when loading the calendar and ToDo-Plugins.
I can confirm this bug. CVS version from yesterday evening, the button sidebar is enabled. After switching to the korganizer part the window can not be resized anymore. sysinfo: SuSE 9.0 (gcc 3.3.1, Qt 3.2.1) best, Jeroen
Hi, like Cornelius already mentioned in the previous posting this is a bug in the button side pane, which was disabled for this reason. When this pane is still active for you, then please remove your config file ~/.kde/share/config/kontactrc. Ciao, Tobias

Ok, but since the bug is marked as UNCONFIRMED I thought I would file a bug report anyway. best, Jeroen
In kde4.1 version the resize issue happens again at least on my eeePC 701 with a maximum available size of 800x404. The size issue applyes also for korganizer as a standalone app. Is this a regression or should I file a new bug?
I cannot confirm exactly this bug in svn trunk r865463. The korganizer part does not change the minimum size of the kontact window, neither it resizes it vertically as described above. However, it is a fact that kontact in general cannot be resized to be smaller than 615x505, which makes it unsuitable for an eeePC and also, each kontact part seems to keep its own size, so, if you resize kontact for example while it is in the kmail part and then switch to another part, the kontact window resizes to the size that the part remembers to be its size.
Hm, not quite true. Sometimes I am able to resize it to a smaller size, but not always. Btw, the resize bug I mentioned is bug 170460.
This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present? If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of kontact (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.08 or later), it gets closed in about three months.
Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.0 aka 15.08), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
