Closing the Konqueror session that had the device open didn't solve? How did you
open that Konqueror?

I have been doing this for quite a while now and just by clicking on another outside
directory, Konqueror releases the mounted directory.
Comment 2 maor 2003-05-15 08:41:30 UTC
i open the konqueror by click on the cdrom device
clicking on another didn't help .
Comment 3 Thiago Macieira 2003-05-21 15:42:57 UTC
Ok, I managed to reproduce this: it happened apparently due to the thumbnail
creator or viewer, which kept the file open after changing directories.

This means it only happens in Icon View mode. None of the List modes show
thumbnails, therefore this problem does not occur.

Is this your case?
Comment 4 maor 2003-05-22 06:46:48 UTC
i checked by that cases and that seems to be the problem .
only happens in icon view in all other modes i had no problem umount cdrom.
Comment 5 maor 2003-06-13 08:24:20 UTC
i thought i may add some info
here is lsof output :
lsof /mnt/cdrom2
COMMAND PID USER FD TYPE DEVICE SIZE NODE NAME
kdeinit 1661 maor 128r DIR 11,1 6144 59392 /mnt/cdrom2

this after using cdrom so i can't unmount device till send kill signal to that pid or
logout kde.

There is no this problem if KDE is compiled without fam!

Hallo KDE Developers,

thank you for your work at a really
great Desktop.

One thing with the konqueror is an old Problem and is still not fixed.

If you mount a samba share or an NFS share
Then you start the Konqueror an go to the mountet directories
After you have done, click HOMEDIR or any other DIR
try to umount the mountet directory, ....you get "device busy"

you can: a) kill the process initiatet by kdeinit,
finding it with "lsof | grep [mounted dir]"
after killing , you can unmount.

	b) setting minimum Instanzes in Background to 0
	    in the Konqeror performane-settings
	    ( "1" is default !!! )
Then: only when you close the Konqueror-window, which has been
previously on the mounted Share or CDROM
	then you can unmount it.

It's not a good solution

Why does Konqueror leafe open files in visited directories ??

The Problem with the "left open files" was alread known in 2002

The Problem is still in KDE 3.2.1 with SUSE 9.1

bugs.kde.org showed the "lsof problem" as "RESOLVED"
So I did an Update to 3.2.2
...sorry, but the problem is the same !!! and obviously not solved.

I have no big problem with that.
But some beginners surely have a problem with that, and say: Windows is ....

best regards

Obviously this bug is not even SOLVED in kde 3.3.2!!!!!!!!! It is still the same old story!!!!! Do something, please!!!! I have to close konqueror several times browse to other dirs, ... until the device is free for umount!!!! konqueror even blocks kde umount via icon context menu.
