Version: (using KDE KDE 3.1) Installed from: Debian stable Packages OS: Linux When I started KMail for the first time (after upgrading from KDE2.2 to KDE3.1), KMail created the Index-Files in $HOME/Mail/. Well, in this directory were my Mails from mutt located. So I had to remove the Index-Files (created by KMail), move my old $HOME/Mail to $HOME/mail, adjust my muttrc, procmailrc, my zsh-aliases, etc. It is/was not possible, to change the Mail-Folder-Variable directly from within KMail. It would be very nice to change the $HOME/Mail-value within KMail - for example through ~/.kde/share/config/kmailrc To configure the mail-folder in mutt you set the Mailfolder with "set folder=~/mail" - it would be nice to be able to set such an option in kmailrc. So existing systems won't be touched and you don't have to change options in other, already configured and running applications. KMail could be used anyway - together with another mail-clients. Hope this helps, thanks for your support.
Subject: Re: New: $HOME/Mail - make it possible to change the Mail-Folder(-variable) Read the FAQ. There is explained how to change ~/Mail to something else.
Do you think of http://docs.kde.org/en/3.1/kdenetwork/kmail/faq.html#id2838960 ? If so - yes I have read it before (also the german version), but no that is not the solution I suspected! I do NOT want *any* files related to KMail in my ~/Mail-directory! I even do not want any softlinks there (ln -s /somewhere/Mail/.remotedir.directory ~/Mail/.mymailboxfile.directory). Why not? First of all it is a ugly workaround, but the more important point for me is, that mutt would display this files as a mailfolder and this would result in a chaos of displaying the mailfolders. Got me? If you meant another FAQ or if I just misunderstood you - sorry, could you please point me the right FAQ/solution? Thank you!
Subject: Re: $HOME/Mail - make it possible to change the Mail-Folder(-variable) The FAQ you are looking for is: "Can I configure the location of my mail directory?" The short answer is: Add folders=/home/michael/.KMail to the [General] section of ~/.kde/share/config/kmailrc.
