Version: 0.6 (using KDE KDE 3.1) Installed from: SuSE RPMs Compiler: gcc 3.2 OS: Linux In kopete 0.6 the file transfer in MSN fails on large files, in both directions. The limit seems to be 200-300 kbyte, after which kopete reports an "unknown error". It is not a precise size, which is the limit. The Windows-client side reports "connection blocked". Small files transfer without problems in both directions. This is on a LAN, over a single switch. The windows-clients can transfer among themselves without problems.
Just wanted to make sure everyone knew my status on this (I think most do). I have successfully both send and recieved large files (m3s of a few MB, JPEG files of a few hundred k) over MSN many times, my friends send me files constantly. ( and haven't had one fail in a long time.) I really do not know what this means for this issue, but just wanted to let everyone know it does not happen all the time, and that it seems to be a problem that may be tied to certain circumstances (bandwidth? firewalls? glibc version?)

Firewalls are probably not an issue, as none of the people I tried this with have a firewall running (me neither). Thomas

Memory issues (dangling pointers, buffer overruns, uninitialized memory, ...)?
Subject: seems fixed I am now using 0.6.1 and the file transfer problems seem to have disappeared. Transfer seems slow and uses a lot of CPU, but there are no more stalls and errors. Thomas
*** Bug has been marked as fixed ***.
kopete 0.12.4 - kde 3.5.6 i observe this stalls using msn protocol the kopete side uses NAT the other side uses microsoft messenger
I also get a lot of stalls when sending big files over msn. Usually small files are sent and recieved without problems. Once I even made ms messenger crash when I was trying to send a big file (but I think that's probably normal...)
This bug is always present. Reopen it.
I will add that is only download that fail. Upload seems working well.
This is to inform that I've just tested this and found that kopete worked as expected. I did a file transfer of a ~1MB file. Transferring worked and receiving as well. We used the MSN protocol. I'm using kopete 0.12.4 and the other end used miranda which is another multiprotocol free client.
Like David Perisa in comment 6, I was using Kopete, and a friend of mine was using MSN Messenger.
I also have the same problem in 0.12.4 when receiving files from Windows Live Messenger. Downloading is slow (for any file I download and upload), the progressbar seams to pause sometimes and after a few seconds (for "large" files of 1 Mb or so) it stops: the progressbar on my side do not advance anymore while my friend see a message that there has been an error during transfert (or that I canceled).
