Description gjditchfield 2003-02-04 20:43:24 UTC
Version: 3.1 (using KDE 3.1.0 (RC6))
Installed from: compiled sources
Compiler: gcc version 2.96 20000731 (Red Hat Linux 7.3 2.96-113)
OS: Linux (i586) release 2.4.18-19.7.x

I made an address book entry with name "Glen Ditchfield", Formatted name "Ditchfield, Glen", email "gjditchfield@acm.org", and no other information.

I pressed the "New Mail" button. A "Composer - KMail" window popped up with a "To:" field that contained

   Ditchfield, Glen <gjditchfield@acm.org>

Note the naked comma. Shouldn't the formatted name be quoted?

I pressed the "Send" button. Eventually, my ISP returned the test message to me in a message with subject "Delivery Notification: Delivery has failed". The returned message had a "To:" field containing

  To: Ditchfield@slate.localdomain, Glen <gjditchfield@acm.org>

("slate" is my hostname.)

Thank you very much for this hint.

The development of the old KAddressBook will be discontinued for KDE 4.4.
Since the new application has the same name, but a completly new code base we close all bug reports against the old version and ask the submitters to resend there reports against the new product.
