Version: (using KDE KDE 3.0.4) Installed from: Mandrake RPMs OS: Linux In dual monitor setting without Xinemera and when the second screen has higher resolution than the first screen. kwin seems to think that the second screen's resolution is the same as the first, so the placement of windows is incorrect when the session is restored. When a window is maximized, its size is equal to the first screen's resolution, thus it doesn't cover the whole screen. kde version 2.x didn't have this problem. The bugs affects at least kde versions 3.0.[34] with qt version 3.0.5/3.1. it doesn't seem like it is X11 or qt's bug since qt returns correct workspace geometry on both screens.

I see this too - the result is sometimes windows are placed overlapping the titlebar on the second screen. Screen .0 is 1600x1200, Screen .1 is 1280x1024. Using Fedora Core 2.
Is this bug still there in a recent version of KDE, such as 3.5.8 or KDE4.0 RC2?
I experience this too. intel driver + xrandr
KDE3 or KDE4 Paul?
I have this with kde 3.5.9, using Debian Lenny (testing). I have three screens, no xinerama, 1680x1050, 1280x1024 and 1024x768, but for the dropdown and command menus they seem to assume they all have 1680x1050 It seems like this happens just with QT application, since i had no problems with the gimp or firefox menus.
I just updated to KDE 4.2 and now I have exact this problem. Before the update, everything was working fine. Screen 0 has a resolution of 1680x1050 Screen 1 has a resolution of 1900x1080 Windows on screen 0 are positioned a little too far right. When windows are made fullscreen they are larger than the visible screen on the monitor. KDE Version: Name : kdebase Relocations: (not relocatable) Version : 4.2.0 Vendor: Fedora Project Release : 2.fc10
Same problem here with kde 4.2@kubuntu_8.10: my windows don't maximize correctly, and in addition my secondary screen is black (found a workaround on gentoo wiki: http://en.gentoo-wiki.com/wiki/X.Org/Dual_Monitors#Independent_Dual_Head_in_KDE_4.2 ).
I am surprised that this bug is in the state unconfirmed since 2002. I am still experiencing this bug. Is there anything I can provide (configuration or logfiles) to help resolve this bug?
Any news on this bug?
With KDE 4.3.0 I don't experience this behaviour anymore. see also bug 201018 which may be related.
can somebody recheck this for the case when width is the same? 1920x1200, 1920x1080
