Description Julian Rendell 2002-11-12 10:30:10 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.0.4)
Installed from: Debian stable Packages
OS: Linux

Kpersonalizer crashes on starting for first time login- just get an empty window.

This is in a clean home directory- i.e. all .kde files and directories were deleted.

In the kde3-errors file I see quite a few of the following:

QWidget::setMinimumSize: The smallest allowed size is (0,0)
QWidget::setMaximumSize: (unnamed/QLabel) Negative sizes (63,-4) are not possible

I'm running Debian stable plus some packages from unstable- including XFree86 4.2.

Perhaps most important- I'm running with Xinerama, and my monitors have unequal geometry... this caused problems with KDE last time I tried it.

Kicker also fails to start, apparantly for similiar reasons.

Any suggestions/workarounds- appreciated- i.e. are there any skeleton kde files I can copy into my account? At the moment KDE is unusable.

Thanks in advance,

Julian

Hi, thanks for the report.

Can you please try to get a backtrace by either starting
K->Settings->Desktop Settings Wizard and wait for the crashmanager or
by manually starting "gdb kpersonalizer" from the console (if you know how
to use gdb)? Thank you for your help,

Carsten.

Is this bug still there in a recent version of KDE, such as 3.5.8 or KDE4.0 RC2?

Cannot confirm, if you think this is from your unequal geometry setup and it still exists under a recent 4, please reopen. Thanks.
