CFLAGS/CXXFLAGS for KDE compile = "-O3 -march=i686 -mcpu=i686" I have kPanel at the top of my screen. When I bring up a kscd dialog box (CD Database Editor kscd Configuration) the initial window placement is underneath the panel requiring me to manually move the window from under the panel. I just noticed the same behavior when attempting to run a program from the Application Launcher Panel Applet. I found another app which does the same thing - kOdometer. A screenshot: http://apocalyptech.com/kde/kodometer.png While these applications could probably be fixed to "do the right thing" as it were I feel it's probably more of a window manager issue as windows probably just shouldn't be allowed to be under the Panel at all. In the kOdometer case its not KWin's fault IMHO. kOdometer is a TYPE_DOCK window so it should handle the struts itself. I'm not 100% sure though - the NETWM spec doesn't say anything about this. The bug also occures with a mac-style-menu or with a Kasbar, Kicker or anything on the top or left hand of the screen. This makes the mac-style-menu unusable. The Kicker / kasbar can at least be moved to the right or bottom. Olaf.
