(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***) Package: bugs.kde.org Version: KDE 3.0.0 Severity: normal Installed from: SuSE RPMs Compiler: Not Specified OS: Linux OS/Compiler notes: Not Specified In ~/.qt/qtrc at section [General] specify XIM input style as follows... "XIMInputStyle=On The Spot" But actually on xwnmo(GTK-Based XIM client) japanese input mode toggled on it behave (displayed root window for 2bytes input and convert) as well as specify "XIMInputStyle=Root" And on kinput2(in Wnn mode) input string are entered they are disappeared. On KDE-3.0 japanese input mode "on the spot" is never unrecognized and available. (Submitted via bugs.kde.org)
Input method bugs are generally on the Qt level. For Qt 3.x, you should use Over the spot in most cases, as the On the spot implementation is broken in Qt. (Also On the spot XIM has some design issues as well)
Is this bug still present in a recent version of KDE, such as 3.5.8 or KDE 4 RC2?
