(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***) Package: khelpcenter Version: KDE 3.0.0 Severity: normal Installed from: RedHat RPMs Compiler: Not Specified OS: Not Specified OS/Compiler notes: Not Specified KHELPCENTER should display a BUSY cursor when: 1. Click on 'Glossary' 2. Click on 'By Topic' or 'Alphabetically' for the first time. 3. There is some processing and disk thrashing generating an index? 4. No change in the cursor or lockout of Khelpcenter occurs. Shouldn't the user be locked out from using KHelpCenter until the processing is done and Topic menu generated? At leasy a busy icon should be displayed. (Submitted via bugs.kde.org)

But progress info is about impossible to do ;( Greetings Stephan -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: For info see http://www.gnupg.org iD8DBQE8v9vuwFSBhlBjoJYRAg5fAJsEN55o2HH0k544ovr2XpeRdnBpNgCeIsDB RFwPJpAYykVCNYZLg2Byn7s=3D =3Du/oX -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
Stephan Understood however there must have been a reason I filed this as a bug report? :) IMHO there should be a pointer/busy icon (yes... like MS Windows) in this situation. If no icon the pane should indicate an index is being generated. Maybe a collapseable item saying 'Index generating...'? In my test case I didn't know WHAT was happening. I assumed the glossary tab contained NO DATA until I listened to my HDD thrashing. Thanks for replying. - Nick > On Friday 19 April 2002 07:26 npapadon@yahoo.com > wrote: > > Package: khelpcenter > > Version: KDE 3.0.0 > > Severity: normal > > Installed from: RedHat RPMs > > Compiler: Not Specified > > OS: Not Specified > > OS/Compiler notes: Not Specified > > > > KHELPCENTER should display a BUSY cursor when: > > > > 1. Maybe one can use something like the konqueror busy cursor. I know a number of people simply closing khelpcenter after some time as they think it does not work at all.
Subject: Re: should display busy cursor Agreed. I would display a busy cursor and lock out the ability to manipulate the helpcenter window. --- mcamen@mcamen.de wrote: > ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- > You reported the bug, or are watching the reporter. > > http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=41274 > > > > > ------- Additional Comments From mcamen@mcamen.de > 2002-10-02 16:12 ------- > Maybe one can use something like the konqueror busy > cursor. It is correct that the 'hey look I'm doing something' hints of KDE Help Centre aren't really obvious. It seems like it does not do anything, until finally the requested page is shown. Some 'Please be patient while KDE builds this page' that replaces the page until it's been built would be really nice.
