(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***) Package: kpartsaver Version: 3.0rc3 (using KDE 3.0.0 CVS/CVSup/Snapshot) Severity: normal Installed from: Compiled sources Compiler: Not Specified OS: Linux OS/Compiler notes: Not Specified When using the media screensaver scrollbars are shown if the image is too big to fit on the screen. However the scrollbars cannot be accessed if password-checking is enabled (haven't tried disabling password-checking so it could be true there as well). (Submitted via bugs.kde.org)
screensavers are not meant to be interacted with in the first place. ergo, the scroll bars appearing at all is a bug.
Is this bug still present in a recent version of KDE, such as 3.5.8 or KDE 4 RC2?
Closing due to no response by reporter. Please reopen if this bug is still present in a current version of KDE (at time of writing, 3.5.8 or 4.0.0).
is it really too much asked to verify such a simply reproducible bug? and anyway, what sense does it make to query the reporter when a kde developer confirmed it just half a year before?
ps: i hate web forms. :}
Hello, I could not reproduce this bug (assuming that with "media screensaver" is meant the slideshow screensaver) in KDE 4.4.5. The case "image too big for the screen" is handled in slideshow.cpp, so I think this bug has been fixed. Can you (reporter or Oswald) comfirm this bug is closed ? Thanks, Robert Chéramy
your assumption is wrong.
I was indeed wrong. The scrollbars are drawn by the embedded (external) viewer. Depending on the installed viewers, you may see scrollbars or not (I see scrollbars for long texts, but images are OK). Can this bug be fixed at all, as it depends from the external viewers ?
dunno. tell me. ;)
The original reporter complained about not be able to use the scrollbars. As screensavers are not meant to be interacted with in the first place, this is the correct behaviour: "it's not a bug, it's a feature". You won't be able to prevent the embedded viewers to display interactive widgets (not only scrollbars, but also buttons, checkboxes and so on... kpartsaver can for example display an html form). So, I would say change the status to "WONTFIX".
well, obviously. one could make at least some the parts adjust themselves to the special environment, but this just isn't worth the effort, i guess.
