(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***) Package: kscd Version: 1.3.2 (using KDE 2.2.1 ) Severity: normal Installed from: SuSE RPMs Compiler: Not Specified OS: Linux OS/Compiler notes: Clean install of SuSE 7.3 (KDE 2.2.1) When set to loop mode via the loop button on the GUI KSCD will pause after it plays the last track on the CD. Clicking play/pause will not make it continue (ie start playing the 1st track again). Instead you must press stop and then play. This happens on all CDs and with at least three different models of CD drive. KSCD is configured to use /dev/cdrom as the CDROM device with /dev/cdrom being a symlink to /dev/hdc. Permissions on /dev/hdc are brw-rw---- owned by user root group disk with major 22 minor 0 Running KSCD from the command line doesn't give any output when it reaces the end of the CD. Output at startup is: CDTEXT INFO: use GET_FEATURY_LIST(0x46)... CDTEXT ERROR: GET_FEATURY_LIST(0x46) not implemented or broken. ret = -1! CDTEXT INFO: GET_FEATURY_LIST(0x46) ignored. It's OK becose many CDROMS don't implement this featury CDTEXT INFO: try to read how long CDTEXT is? CDTEXT ERROR: READ_TOC(0x43) with format code 0x05 not implemented or broken. ret = -1! CDTEXT INFO: free_cdtext_info() called (Submitted via bugs.kde.org)

How about the following: Play some CD and press pause in the middle of playing. After five minutes you press play again for continuing. What happens? Does kscd play resume playing correctly? > KSCD is configured to use /dev/cdrom as the CDROM device with /dev/cdrom being a symlink to /dev/hdc. It only means that kscd's CDTEXT support didn't work with your drive&disc. -dirk -- D i r k F "o r s t e r l i n g r@zorbla.de http://r@zorbla.de/ ------------- "A radioactive cat has eighteen half-lives."

I do get the following in /var/log/warn (wrapped for legibility): Apr 9 11:12:39 pootieo kernel: hdc: packet command error: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error } Apr 9 11:12:39 pootieo kernel: hdc: packet command error: error=0x54 But these don't coincide with CD operations. For example I paused and restarted the CD around 11:50AM and there were no messages. > > KSCD is configured to use /dev/cdrom as the CDROM device with /dev/cdrom > > being a symlink to /dev/hdc. > > What make and model CD-ROM drive is this? According to dmesg it's a: hdc: SAMSUNG CD-ROM SC-148F ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive (it's a generic OEM CD-ROM drive as shipped with Dell PCs - other CD-ROM drives which exhibited the same problems have been of similar make). Hope this can be of some help Paul.
if you have updated to KDE3, could you confirm whether or not this bug persists for you? thanks...
Subject: Re: KSCD pauses after playing full tracklist Yes, I'm now using KDE3 from SuSE RPMs. Specifically, kscd version 1.3.3 from the "kdemultimedia3" package. This bug still exists. Behaviour is the same as before. kscd is set to loop, but upon reaching the end of a CD, it switches into "pause" mode. The Play/Pause button has no effect, neither do the 30 seconds Back / Forward buttons. You have to press Stop and then Play to start playing the disc. I'm just after testing workman-1.3.4 (again, from SuSE RPMs) and it too jumps to pause mode when it reaches the end of a disc. Paul.
