Hi

RedHat 7.1 / KDE 2.1 / kppp 2.0.3 / external fax modem USR Robotic 56K

I read a multitude of articles on the problem of connection to compuserve
via kppp. The problem seems to be related on the number of bits for the
data on the bit of parity and the bit of stop (7E1 8N1).

I tested everything I modified the source of kppp (modem.cpp / readtty :
0x7F or 0xFF ) and compiled to have always the same problem. During the
establishment of connection compuserve returns unreadable characters and
connection fails. I used minicom dip chat pppd directly but without any
result.

Until now I used linux for an Oracle server. Now linux is easier to install
than Windows (PnP) is free very stable and I wish to use it as
workstation. However if I must spend all my nights to try to reach Internet
via linux I prefer to use Windows which does not have any problem.

Thanks a lot for your help.

Can anyone confirm if this bug is still present in a recent version of KDE, such as 3.5.8?
