Description baitfish 2001-07-16 15:24:44 UTC
(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***)

Package: kicker
Version: KDE 2.2.0 Alpha2
Severity: wishlist
Installed from: Compiled From Sources
Compiler: gcc 2.95.3
OS: Linux
OS/Compiler notes: Mandrake 7.2 (kernel 2.2.17)

See subject :)

A lot of Windows-want-to-be converts or new KDE users want to use the Windows Key as an alternative to ALT+F1. After all this will be handy if keyboard manufacturers ever rename it to the "Linux Key"! :)
In other words provide two ways to open up the K Menu (by *default*) at the *same time*: Windows Key and ALT+F1.
If this means that KDE will now need to be changed to support multiple key bindings oh well :)

Isn't the "Windows Key" the same thing as the Meta key? I don't think it is
possible to assign an action to just the Meta key let alone have multiple
key bindings for an action. Anyway this is not kicker's problem.

Just following Stephan Kulow's instructions about changing email
addresses for bug reports :)

Please do not continue sending to baitfish@bigpond.com.

My sincere apologies if I am clogging up the kde-bugs mailinglists.

Featured add in CVS -- the K-Menu will now pop up if the Win-key is pressed and released
without any intervening keys. And about email to baitfish@bigpond.com: I don't know where
those instructions are; if you want to give me a link, I'll fix the address, but otherwise this
request is closed now anyway.

Win key does not popup KMenu when num lock or caps lock is on. Running KDE 3.2.1 on FC1.

Ellis, which file(s) were modified for this? (I'd like to be able to snag a small patch against kde-3.2.1).

Never mind, I misread the dates on posts and just now realized Ellis' previous post was almost a year old.

How is it possible to disable this feature? (kde 3.2)
When I press the meta key (= left windows), for ex in emacs, the menu appears!
Thank you!
