Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.7.0) OS: Linux Using actually KDE 4.7.1 which wasn't available for selection yet. When clearing the search input field in Dolphin, it lists ALL files in the Nepomuk index as result. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open Dolphin 2. Press Ctrl+F 3. Enter a search term 4. Delete the search term 5. Look at the file listing Note! No advanced filters were set in the search panel Actual Results: Dolphin lists all files in the Nepomuk index. Expected Results: No results should be shown when clearing the search input field.
Some additional information regarding the used software components: Nepomuk 4.7.1 Soprano git 432b73f5 Virtuoso 6.1.3
This is still valid for: KDE SC 4.7.3 Soprano 2.7.0 Virtuoso 6.1.3
Still valid for KDE 4.7.95 (4.7.80 RC1) Soprano 2.7.3 Virtuoso 6.1.4 I assume this is mostly a Dolphin issue, where simply a check is missing, whether the search string is empty and still a search request is executed for an empty search string.

I can't reproduce this bug in Dolphin KDE 4.11 Beta 1. When I clear the search input field only the items from the previous search result are displayed. @Frank: I think we should open the search path when the user clears the search input field (same as user opens the search widget in a folder) or at least clear the view. What do you think?
It seems that I can reproduce this in KDE 4.10.3 when I press "Enter" after clearing the search field. But the original report sounded like it happens even without pressing "Enter"? On the one hand, clearing the view might make sense if the search string is empty, But it also makes it more difficult to do a generic search with additional search options, right?
Doesn't seem to happen anymore in Dolphin 16.x or 17.x.
