Description Tvrtko Ursulin 2010-11-26 14:09:35 UTC
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.5.80)
OS: Linux

I upgraded from KDE 4.5.3 to 4.6 Beta 1. On first mail migration thingy ran successfully.

I had one IMAP (MS Exchange) account configured.

Some new email headers were downloaded fine but message bodies for both new and old mail are not downloaded at all.

Subsequently no new headers are getting downloaded. (I guess after the first batch it stopped working)

I tried going into the account configuration where the IMAP one is listed but configuration dialog is not showing up either on double-click or on clicking "Modify..." on the right.

Account status is "Connection established".

There are no visible indicators that something is crashing or reporting failures/problems.

Reproducible: Always

I got rid of the migrated IMAP account and created a new one. That worked better for a while, but not all message headers were downloaded.

Is there a limit how much it will fetch? It seems to download from oldest but then for various folders it stops at various dates. Which leads me to suspect it is about the number since bigger folders miss more of the recent messages.

Then it somehow got stuck again in a way that I could not enter the configuration dialog for this IMAP account. I re-created it again.

Situation with not all headers being downloaded is still present.

However bodies of all downloaded headers can be read.

Hi,

Maybe this is related to https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=240350 - Exchange server sending broken responses when it is heavily loaded. That bug report suggests to shut down kmail, and then kill all kio IMAP connections to allow recovery.

Could you try this to see if it works?

Sorry not any more. Beta 1 (kmail and KDE in general) was just too bugy and
slow for everyday use so I had to downgrade.
