- What I was doing when the application crashed:

Just starting Kontact from KDE desktop. Nothing fancy. 

I experienced a power glitch and I had to restart my system. On restart Kontact was not working anymore. I might have done some package update before the power glitch.

As a workarround, removing /.kde/share/apps/akregator  does allow akregator to start without crashing (but you loose all your RSS configuration).
