Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.4.4) OS: Linux It happens 5-10 minutes after Dolphin launch. 2-3 tabs is enough to reproduce this. When I turn from the tab to tab, it looks like the previous tab is already hidden but the next is not displayed. Restart of Dolphin helps, but only for a while. At night it's like a photo camera flash for eyes (especially with the maximized window). I think it's even harmful for eyes. Reproducible: Always
Thanks for the bug report! I cannot reproduce this issue in 4.4.4 or trunk. Looks like it might be a graphics driver or a style issue. Do you use the Oxygen style or a different one? Do you know which graphics driver you use?
(In reply to comment #1) I use KDE 4.4.5 (but noticed this issue already long time ago), Oxygen style and nvidia proprietary blob. With Cleanlooks style I've got the same and closing tabs doesn't help too. Only restart Dolphin helps. Or, when an one window is opened and this problem is already appeared in it, if I'll open a new dolphin window, it doesn't have this problem (of course, for a while too).
I've tried to do some tests. I've two dolphin windows, both with some tabs on the same locations. In one of the two (the one opened about 10 minutes earlier) I can reproduce this bug: switching tabs display a quick flicker.
Maybe this is nvidia blob issue. That is I suspect slow 2D rendering.
I've forgot to say that I'm using nvidia drivers too.
That is normally, because some nvidia owners has this problem and another — not. Also this can be a kwin issue, but 100% not dolphin. I am so sure because I can see the same flickering when I have grouped some windows (even not dolphin's) by using the new kwin possibility. It is sad that I have no a video camera to show to you. Perhaps that this could be related to the bug #178269 or something like that.
Thanks for the report. As Alexander mentioned this most probably could be a kwin or driver issue. I also have an nvidia card but could not reproduce this issue yet... Anyhow I'll close this report in the scope of Dolphin (usually the best would be to forward it to the corresponding sub component, but I'm not sure if this is related to bug #178269 or not).
(In reply to comment #7) Is this means that this bug never will be fixed? :)
> Is this means that this bug never will be fixed? :) @Alexander: I hope that it gets fixed :-) But as said it is out of scope of Dolphin doing this and at least I cannot do anything to fix this...
KDE updated up to 4.6.2, also my system was moved to Intel i7 processor, the bug #178269 was fixed, but flickering in dolphin is still persists. And it's very hard for the eyes.
Also the oxygen tab-switching animation doesn't work here.
