Version: unspecified (using Devel) OS: Linux Hi,I'm wondering how dolphin checks directory permissions, i've got a /Library folder , and i put it to the favorite panel (Left panel) , when i click on the left , /Library opens , and then if you right click , try to create a folder , it doesn't work , cuz that option is grey , not available. But i actually have the permissions , mkdir works fine. So i pressed F5 , refresh it , all right , everythings' available now , it's BUG. * ll /Library/ -ld drwsrws--- 20 root labo 4096 Jul 5 14:31 /Library/ That's bit of strange permissions , right ? Reproducible: Didn't try Steps to Reproduce: Create a directory , making sgid. Like: * ll /Library/ -ld drwsrws--- 20 root labo 4096 Jul 5 14:31 /Library/ Put yourself (must be normal user) to that group (e.g labo) , create a favorite folder as /Library. Open dolphin , click on the left , then try to create a folder by right click , you'll find it unavailable. But mkdir actually works. Actual Results: Cut , Copy , Create Folder .. everything unavailable Expected Results: Should be available OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.31-tuxonice-r11 Compiler: i686-pc-linux-gnu-gcc KDE 4.4.5 everything stable , newest
Reproduced here, with KDE SC 4 svn r1157874 (KDE 4.5.62 (KDE 4.6 >= 20100729))
Still exists in KDE SC 4.5.1 , just upgrade my system , seems any folder could reproduce this bug. Try switching folder view mode (like from `lists` to `mac os like expandable` style) , and this bug reproduces occasionally on normal folders.
I'm not sure if this is the same bug, but need to change to another directory, then change back to the first directory again before I get write permissions. For me, no amount of refreshing or changing the view helps. The only way I get write permissions is to change directory. I can either drill down into a subdirectory, then come up again, go up a level, then come down again, or change to a completely different directory via shortcuts, then click the "Go back" button. All these work fine, but nothing else for me. It is reproducible every time for me. It still exits in KDE 4.7.3 on OpenSuse 11.4 X86_64 Is this the same bug or should I file a new one?
Can't reproduce the problems mentioned in all comments using KDE SC 4.9 . Feel free to reopen the report if it still happens in recent versions.
